Start with the story

Read this out loud before the first clue. It turns “go find some cards” into a mission.

A Message in a Bottle

Hello from under the sea, Lagoon Explorers!

This is Queen Coralie, ruler of Mermaid Lagoon. Last night a big, bubbly storm swirled through the lagoon, and my playful friend Ollie the Octopus tried to catch my sea pearls with all eight arms. Oops! He juggled them right out of my treasure chest, and they floated away.

The pearls have washed up all around this place. I sent eight Pearl cards on the waves to help you. Each one has a rhyming riddle that tells you where to swim next.

Lagoon explorers stick together like a school of fish. Take turns, help your friends, and wiggle your mermaid tails every time you find a card. Follow the trail to the very end and the Mermaid Queen’s treasure is yours!

Your first Pearl card is attached. Happy swimming!

With bubbles and love,
Queen Coralie of the Lagoon

  5. Clue 5

Between clues, read a mermaid rhyme to keep the story going:

Splish! Splash! Explorers, come dive in with me,
The pearls are all scattered across the blue sea!

A pearl! What a beauty! It shines like the moon,
Now swim to the next one, we’ll find it real soon!

The very last pearl is the shiniest one,
Find the Queen’s treasure, and the quest is all done!
